Founder of Stable Surroundings, Registered Counsellor, Veteran
As a qualified Equine Assisted Mental Health Practitioner, Jodie offers an empathetic ear, and brings an abundance of life experience.
As a veteran, after serving for over 17 years in the Defence Force, (including the resilience of being a Defence spouse), Jodie knows what it is like to be starting over in various posting locations, taking on new roles and building new support networks. More recently, navigating the challenges of being medically retired from the Army.
Fortunate to have had a lifetime of experience with horses, since childhood, even when life takes different directions, the horses were always pivotal to Jodie’s core sense of stability.
Now offering Equine Assisted Therapy Services In Singleton, Jodie has followed her passion to bring together the benefits of working with horses into the therapeutic space, with a true belief that this work with horse can benefit others.
As well as being a registered and trauma informed counsellor, Jodie also offers horsemanship mentoring, and provides individually tailored sessions for Capacity building, Meaningful engagement and Well-being.
Jodie is putting herself out there to help you and others, by offering the opportunity for you, with the help of horses, to discover your authentic self, participate in self-care, through meaningful engagement, whilst you develop resilience and empowerment on your own personal growth journey.
A short story from Jodie:
“I recall as a soldier, during a pack march, when one section commander, stated a simple sentence, which has remained with me all of this time, it was: “look up at the greens of the landscape and the blues of the sky, rather than down at the dull colours of the bitumen” and that really made a difference to my morale and ability to breathe and to make it through that challenge. I have referred to that small gesture many more times over the years, as one way to resource myself as needed.I’m pretty sure that in life, we all need to come across those kinds of moments from those occasional mentors who have somehow contributed with snippets of support along the way.”
