Counselling

What If I just want to talk and not go in with the horses?

Lets just find a comfortable place to sit and chat.

We are not limited to room based counselling, we have spaces to accommodate for shade, wet weather, and can move around, inside our little dedicated shed based office, outside, overlooking the horse yards.

As a person-centred counsellor, we can work together to shape your therapy session into something that works for you.

Equine Assisted Learning

Is Equine Assisted Learning the right option for me?

This option can be a non-therapy, activity based program, which can benefit anyone, for capacity building, self confidence, perfect to weave into Mentor programs or Meaningful Engagement and wellness programs.

This might also be a good way to try out equine assisted services, as a non-therapy version of a session, before deciding if Equine Assisted Therapy would be a good fit for you. The session might be very similar in environment and activity, just without the therapeutic relationship.

Meaningful Engagement, Well-being and Mentor programs

What would this kind of program look like?

Usually for GROUPS,
We can arrange a program to suit your small group needs.
Occasionally, group sessions advertised on Facebook page.

However, INDIVIDUALS can book a single (or package of) ‘one person’ session/s under ‘Meaningful Engagement & Well-being’ if that suits your funding/invoicing better.
The experience will still be meaningful and therapeutic in nature.

Group session duration could range from 2 hours, or up to half a day, (subject to group needs, size and costs).
Ideal group sizes is for 4 people. (up to 8 max)

Your small group can experience a blended sequence of short segments, covering a mixed selection of elements such as Horse handling and education, Somatic Awareness and Regulation activity, Art activity, interactive Equine Assisted Learning activity with the horses.

Whilst technically overall, a non-therapy option, your group will leave with a sense of connection, wonder, achievement, all known as meaningful engagement, and good for their overall well-being.

Ideal for getting out of the office or team bonding session.

*GROUPS - By special arrangement only, with notice, unless special event advertised.

*Send an enquiry via ‘Contact Us’ or arrange a call back consult (through the booking page) to discuss planning your group activity.

** Please Note: For all NDIS Clients, we still need to work according to your plan and approved funding, no matter which option you choose, due to billing under the appropriate NDIS Line item. Which means giving consideration to meeting your goals, therefore, a therapy intake process will still need to be in place.

Adaptive Horsemanship

Is Adaptive Horsemanship the right option for me?

This option can develop your horse handling skills, at which ever level you require. You may wish to build confidence being in the presence of horses, catching, leading, brushing or washing a horse.

For others, there is scope to progress to more intermediate levels of horsemanship in the round pen, ground work techniques or liberty work.

It is important to know, this is not a horse training program, and Stable Surroundings aims to operate within a safe scope of practice.

Adaptive Horsemanship is a way of incorporating and sharing a knowledge of horsemanship skills to enhance another persons experience around horses, work towards learning a new way of being around horses, a sense of achievement and well-being.

This option can be a non-therapy program.

And elements of this work can often be integrated into any therapy session (depending on your goals).

This is a great option for a Youth Mentor program.
